Dear Sir or Madam,

The Academy for International Cooperation (AIZ) of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is pleased to inform you that the Department 8140 Competency Development Sectors & Management announces its new blended-learning course:

"World of Development and the Role of Statistics"

The course is designed for statisticians, researchers, producers and users of statistical information working in the field of development and statistics.

This blended-learning course will take place

8th April – 17th May 2013 (Internet-based Training) as well as
24th – 28th June 2013 (Classroom session in Sub-Saharan Africa; the exact venue still is to be announced

Objectives of this blended-learning course are to improve your understanding of the connections between development and statistics and enrich your existing conceptual and practical knowledge. The use of fact-based information and statistics will lead to a more profound understanding of the kind of calculation and analysis that can be done in this context.

 Criteria for the selection of the participants are the following:

×         Professional background

×         Proven and expressed interest in the subject

×         Envisaged benefit of the course for the professional environment of the candidate

 The 20 participants with the highest achievements during the Internet-based training will be invited to participate at the classroom session from 24th - to 28th June 2013 in Sub-Saharan Africa.

 The AIZ will also organize a French version of this course in the second half of 2013.
