Throughout 2009 and in early 2010, tremendous global financial and economic challenges put pressure on results practitioners to attain their goals. The AfCoP managed to achieve its ambitious goals despite these challenging circumstances. Membership has increased immensely; the AfCoP’s involvement in international and regional workshops, seminars and training activities for networking and sharing good practices has been tremendous; the MfDR oriented resource database is thriving; the forum is vibrant; and an important number of African citizens visit the AfCoP website. National Chapters are flourishing in several countries. The list of AfCoP achievements is long. The Annual M&E Report of the AfCoP Work Plan Implementation is available
here.
Since the Second Annual Meeting of the AfCoP-MfDR in October 2008, one of the key achievements as a CoP is the existence of a functioning Results Framework and the 2009 Results-Based Annual Work Plan. The AfCoP Work Plan , which is much aligned with the Results Framework designed earlier by the Monitoring and Evaluation AfCoP Core Management Team (CMT), agreed and adopted by all CMT members, has been implemented in 2009 and early 2010 as diligently as possible. The AfCoP, as one of its milestone achievements, prepared a Mid-Year M&E report which has received a great acknowledgment from the AfCoP CMT members and the Secretariat and was able to inform the partners engaged in the process about how the community has evolved. The lessons learned from the Annual Work Plan implementation will guide the next phase of the AfCoP.
For the preparation of this report, inputs from each CMT sub-team, i.e., Membership and Communication; Networking; Capacity Building and Knowledge Management; and M&E have been gathered. This report also builds on the Mid-Year M&E report prepared in August 2009.
This compiled Annual Work Plan implementation report is organized in Four sections which are presented as follows: Section I presents the Annual Work Plan implementation status report according to each team/thematic area, presented in four sub sections; Section II gives an overview of the 2010 Annual AfCoP Member Survey findings and details the website use; Section III outlines the Challenges faced in implementing the AfCoP Work Plan; and Section IV presents the Conclusion and the way forward.
The M&E CMT prepared the Annual Work Plan implementation report to be used for two purposes: internal checks and balances for the AfCoP Work Plan implementation and timely report to respective stakeholders about the AfCoP activities.
I hope this report will make you more aware of the latest AfCoP achievements. It is also stored in the AfCoP
resource center. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts on this document.
