CoP-MfDR-Africa

Dear Colleagues,

At the recent AfCoP Annual meeting a new Core Management Team was formed. It now includes a small internal management team in addition to five thematic groups dedicated to the following MfDR areas:

1. Leadership
2. Planning & Budgeting
3. Monitoring & Evaluation
4. Accountability & Partnerships
5. Statistics

These teams are going to produce analytical work and knowledge sharing activities throughout the year. One of their key activities will be online discussions. As a way to initiate this work, we would like to get a sense of what you would like each group to focus on and discuss.

Annual meeting participants already suggested the following topics to discuss:

- Using ICT to enhance results management

- Results-based budgeting and planning

- M&E

• Creating internal incentives to manage for development results
• Creating internal/external demand for development results in member countries
• Use of M&E outcomes for results-based management
• Statistics

- Leadership

Would you like to vote for one of these as the first discussion topic? Or in addition to these, are there any topics that you would like to see as an online discussion over the next few weeks? To make the selection process easier, please suggest topics that fit within the five above mentioned MfDR thematic areas.

As you may know, the current e-discussion on MfDR software is coming to a close and we would like to post a new topic shortly. So, please let us know your selected topics and ideas by responding below.

We look forward to hearing from you!

I would like to vote for M&E or Use of M&E outcomes for results-based management
I would like to vote for Leadership since in 2011 Uganda will be having new leaders and I'm also going to be one of them. i need support and guidance on how best to win in an election which I'm quite sure will help me yield more results in my community where i provide health and home based care services. My second vote is for Accountability and partnership, lets focus on discussing the above two too to widen our sharing of experiences.

I think Using ICT to enhance results management would be a good follow on topic after the MfDR software discussion. But mainly I vote for this topic because ICT is the way to go in this era and onwards and everything now needs a good grasp of the ICT and how it enhances development in various aspects. Everyone from senior Management to lower grades in an organisational set up need this knowledge and how it can be intregrated in the whole development picture. this is a necessity these days.
I would like to vote for Use of the M&E outciomes for result based managment.

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide input on the next round of discussions. We've taken a tally of the suggestions from both the Anglophone and Francophone site. Our first ediscussion will be on ICT and Results Management. We are really excited about this topic as we haven't covered it before and it is a nice next step from the MfDR Software discussion. More to come next week!

Many thanks and kind regards,

Hannah, on behalf of the AfCoP Secretariat
I vote for leadership
